Maths at home

Topmarks has some brilliant games for EYFS and KS1 children. 

You will find a list of games that are suitable for your child in the home learning pack. Please refer to this when picking a game for your child to play. 

 

CBeebies has some lovely activities and ideas for encouraging number skills! This is probably best suited to EYFS children but KS1 children will also enjoy elements of it.

The Number Blocks is a TV show produced by the BBC. It is absolutely brilliant at helping children to think about number and place value. Click here to access their website.

Being creative with nature! Have a look here if you want some ideas for this. Getting your children outside will be key over the next few months, and you will find some lovely ideas for activities you can do outside on Pinterest.

What if I want to help my community or I need support from my community? 

There are several groups on facebook which have been set up to coordinate efforts to support the community. Below is the link for the Soberton group and the Meon Valley support group. Please get in contact with these groups if you would like to help or you feel you need support: 

Another really great idea is to write to the residents of local care homes. Many of the residents will not have been able to see their families or friends for some time now. Brighten their days by either writing a letter or sending in some original Newtown Soberton Infant School artwork! 

Phonics at home

Phonics play is now free to use during the school closures. This is a brilliant resource and your children will be familiar with many of the games already. Click here for free access.

The Alphablocks is a brilliant show for helping young children to consolidate their phonological knowledge. 

Mr T's phonics is also a great you tube channel for helping to consolidate phonological knowledge. Your children  will already be familiar with Geraldine the Giraffe!!!
